Sweet Home, (Madison), Alabama!

For those of you who may not be familiar with the city in which we are building our house, I thought I would provide some information regarding the cute city of Madison, Alabama! Many of you may be thinking, "Wait, what?! I thought you lived in Huntsville!" At the moment we are living in Huntsville, but Huntsville and Madison are very, very close together. They are so close together that one often cannot tell wether they are in Huntsville or Madison. (Think Papillion and LaVista in comparison to Omaha!) It is odd that Adam will still be working in Huntsville, but by moving to Madison we are getting closer to his work! Anyway, here are some facts:



Madison, Alabama 
Founded: 1869 (railway and large cotton producer)
Located: North Alabama, Madison County, West of Huntsville
Population: 40, 055
Schools: Madison City Schools: 1 high school (building a new one-opens 2012), 2 Middle Schools, and 7 Elementary Schools
Medical: Madison Hospital will open in 2012 (It is right down the road from us!)
Annual Temp Average: 60 F
Annual Rain Fall: 56 inches
Parks and Recreation: Dublin Park, Mill Creek Park and Greenway, Rainbow Mountain Preserve, Indian Creek Greenway
*In 2009 Madison, Alabama was named one of US News's Top 10 Places to Grow Up!
*Also in 2009 Madison, Alabama was named No. 49 on CNN Money Magazine's Top 100 Places to Live!
*April-September Madison hosts a farmer's market!
