Adam and I went to pick out our lighting this past weekend! I think the lighting was much more overwhelming than picking out the interior options! The good thing is if we decide we do not LOVE what we picked out after they are put in, we have 30 days to return them to the lighting center! I love that JB Homes is local and uses local business to do their work! We went over to Richard's Lighting and had great help picking out our lights (and doorbell)! We did not get pictures at the store, but here are links to view our selections (click on the location of the light to see the fixture):

Concrete Facts
Did you know you can pour concrete in the rain? I don't actually know if that is true, but it has rained so much that they must have poured it in the rain! Our slab is poured! Next step: Framing!
Garage.
Back view! The cut out is where our back porch will be!
Breakfast Nook Extension (with large window into our backyard)
Still sold!
It's Rough!
Every time we visit the house we see progress! It has been rainy for the past week and we thought that the rain would hold off construction but it has not! Here are pictures of the rough plumbing. After they put the plumbing in they have to get it inspected and then they can pour the concrete for the slab!
We are on a corner lot. This is from the front corner.

Other back corner!
And We're Off!
After we made all of the interior and floor plan decisions, signed the contract, and got everything approved construction started happening quick! We had to leave town for a couple of weeks and by the time we got home the outline of the house was painted on the lot and the frame for the slab was being put up!

SOLD!
Decisions, Decisions....
After securing our beautiful corner lot and hashing out the rough floor plan deals we were off to the 'Design Center' to pick out our interior options! We wanted warm cozy colors, but colors that were neutral enough that when the time comes to sell they will not be too out of date!
Wood Floor
The wood floor will be in our entry way, living area, and kitchen!
Cabinet Choice for Kitchen and Bathrooms
Backsplash for Kitchen
Fireplace Tile in the Living Room
Tile for the Bathrooms
(We have 3 bathroom. 2 on the main floor and one in the upstairs!)
Carpet Choices
The carpet will be in all the bedrooms and upstairs hallway.
(It looks pink, but the picture was taken with a cell phone so it is NOT pink!!)
Laundry Room Floor Tile
The laundry room is off of the garage and so we wanted something to hide dirt!
Exterior Options
Shutters, brick, and siding. The shingles are a dark brown also!
Granite for Kitchen
After going back and forth between granite and no granite, we finally decided that granite would be a good idea for resale purpose (and it might be nice for us too! ;))
Our whole ensemble!
We had visited the design center several times before we had made our options and really had a good idea of what we wanted for our choices! It was really not that painful of a process (it was my favorite part!) and Janet at the Center was INCREDIBLY helpful! She put her opinion in when we asked and did not try to sell us items that were not necessary! The decision was ours and she was there to help!
Can I Borrow A Cup of Sugar?
The 'Hood
It was love at first sight! After making the decision to purchase a house, we searched online for weeks! I finally found one house that was in our price range and in our desired area. I immediately emailed Adam saying we needed to go look at it ASAP! When we drove into the neighborhood we felt at home! While it was a newer development it was surrounded by trees and there would only be around 20 houses built in the neighborhood. The forest would never be chopped down because it was a Land Trust. The neighborhood would never be expanded, keeping it small and intimate! We liked the house that was already built but when talking to the lady that was in charge of the community we realized that we could build a house in the same time frame we were looking (our lease was not up until August, so we couldn't move until then!), the same price range, and with all of our own choices! We thought it was a fun idea, but were really nervous about building a home as our first home! Well, we spent a little too much time thinking, deciding, and looking at other houses in the area because our top lot picks were sold right away! Chelsea Park was a hot area and was selling fast! Two months after our first visit we FINALLY made the decision after a completely random realtor was telling us that Chelsea park was a great place to build and we should consider checking it out! Little did she know we already had a lot reserved and she was the one to just reassure us to go ahead with our decision!

Trees surround the entire neighborhood!
View from our backyard! No house will ever be built where those trees are!
Across the street from us!
